No-exam life insurance
What accelerated underwriting means, who qualifies, and what to expect if you go through the standard underwriting path instead.
Today, many carriers provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants within age and amount limits, they use your application, prescription records, driving history and other data in place of an exam. Some decisions arrive the same day. Each quote here shows whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not required for that product.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting still includes verification of your answers. A policy issued based on incorrect answers can be challenged in the first two years. If a carrier's records raise concerns, it may request an exam or lab work; you decide whether to continue.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants under age 60, applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated limit, with no serious health history and no tobacco use for a year or longer. If you've had a recent doctor's visit with blood work, some carriers will use that instead of an exam.
If an exam is needed, a paramedical examiner typically visits your home or office in the Salinas area for 20–30 minutes, at no cost. For healthy applicants, exam results often improve your rate class, so it can work in your favor.
